My students have started to work

My students of the 11-Class have started to work with the iPad in art . The task is to seek out a representational work of art in groups of two or three people, which can be created as a movie with iMovie. The Students must therefore collect lots of research background information, if possible, contact the artist , if he is still alive , and develop ideas on how a work can be presented in an exciting, entertaining and informative way. The main focus should be on features of ” Moving Pictures ” and a spoken comment. The groups have 6 weeks of time for their work, depending on the presentation another eight weeks are available to virtually recreate the work . It must be ensured that the production is not too complicated.
Right now, the students must gather information with the iPad from the Internet and structure their theoretical part of the task .
The groups have opted for very different works . There are sculptural works from the local area ( Documenta artworks which have remained in Kassel) as well as murals by Keith Haring or a pencil drawing by Adolf Menzel.

Trying and trying

Hallo

I´m really trying hard to get use of the Ipads in the classroom
And I even have one group with their owns Ipads

But it´s hard in science

Last month we had a big role playing game about the klimate
It was 120 pupils and 7 teachers and it was this UN role play you may have heard of
The students represent a country in groups and ends up with a big debate

During the preparations the students of cours used their Ipads to search facts about “their” country
And they wrote their opening speeches on the Ipads and even had them to read from during the day

But earlier when I had prepared for the students to try their own Global Footprint I had found a website where this was good.
But when we tried it on the Ipads it wasn´t possible to use
And I have met that lots of time now

So please, if you find or hear from some good apps in Sciense for Hig school (there is lots of them for small children) let me know.

All for now

Educators Secret

Good Morning. First I wish you all a happy new year with a lot of inspirations and new Ideas. Looking through my apps and thinking about science I found one thing quite interesting. Vernier is offering tools for measuring multiple things in class and now they offering an iPad Connection. Students can collect DATA and work with it provided by a running Logger Pro or a special wireless connector for sensors. Working very well for chemistry, physics and biology. Best Andreas
